Handy guide to water bottle labels
► Posted under tutorials & resources by Heather
Water bottle labels are really popular items in my shop, and so I get asked a lot of questions about them! I know you want special touches at your party to be just right, so I thought it’s about time that I do a mini guide to water bottle labels. So, here are the top three things that inquiring minds want to know:
1. Are your water bottle labels really waterproof? Yes, one hundred percent! Throw ‘em in an ice bucket and don’t give it a second thought. The label will still look perfect even after weeks underwater. (Not even kidding!)
2. Should I take off the old label before putting on the new one? Yes. The new label would show wrinkles from the old label underneath. And as we all know, wrinkles = yuck.
3. What brand of water should I use? Now, that’s the big question. There are so many water bottle brands that it’s hard to provide an exact list of what would work (brands even vary by region – who knew?). My favorite brand is Archer Farms by Target – it’s a pretty bottle and the labels fit perfectly! You can use any brand, though. The rule of thumb is that the manufacturer’s label should be around 2″ tall. The labels that I make are 2″ high, so that means that it would be an easy swap.
4. Do the labels fit minis? Yes! Miniature or kid-size water bottles are the same diameter around, just a different height. So, the labels fit just as well as on full-size (tall) water bottles.
Helpful hint: Take a business card with you when you go shopping. The short side of a business card is 2″ tall. So, if the water bottle label matches the business card, you’re good to go!
So that’s my brief Q&A! For the next portion of the handy guide, here are photos that show how my labels fit on some popular brands. This is not a complete list by any means, and other brands will work as well. But, I’m hoping my photos will be a helpful starting point for you!

…more to come!
PS. One last word… recycle, please. Better yet, save water bottles for special occasions and use a nice refillable bottle other days of the year. The earth (and I) will thank you! : )

What great info! I haven't (yet) used water bottle labels, and never even thought about the label size differences. Thanks for the heads up!

I love knowing you went all around town to pick up those different kinds of water. And who knew the offices of Chickabug LLC had their own label!! :)

Ha! I've actually been collecting them for a little while... as you know, I
never have bottled water otherwise. ; )
