All aboard the birthday train! The sweet, vintage-modern, primary-colored, bright and beautiful birthday train! Seriously, I can’t say enough about the beautiful job that crafty mama and professional photographer Jennifer did for her son James’ first birthday party. From the first balloon to the very last cookie, every detail was perfection!
Inside, James’ train invitation is displayed in a bright yellow frame…
…and the party table is absolutely stunning! The paper lanterns were hand-painted with polka dots and stripes to coordinate with the rest of the decor.
To add height to her table display, Jennifer turned white milk crates upside down. (The crates were a bargain find at JoAnn’s.) It’s such a sweet touch, and the white slats coordinate beautifully with the pinstriped table runner and backdrop.
Little man James is SO cute in his vintage-inspired outfit!
James’ cupcakes, each decorated with printable cupcake wrappers and toppers, are so perfect all lined up in a row!
The drink station includes a jar of straws, each topped with a straw flag. Putting a bandanna in the bottom of the jar adds a nice pop of color!
On James’ personalized water bottles, the train wraps around to the back of the label.
Buffet cards mark each item on the table. The card by the candy says, “grab a bag and fill ‘er up!”
To keep with the vintage feel, Jennifer presented the candy in old-style candy jars.
Jennifer made James’ cake herself! Note how she decided not put a bow in the front of the ribboned cake stand – it’s a minor detail, but it gives the presentation of the cake a modern feel.
Cake time! That’s a little guy behind all that cake. : )
I love this picture showing James’ perspective of his big moment. Such a special (but rarely seen) photo op!
Jennifer used printable napkin rings to decorate her candy bags. (Such a great idea!)
James’ adorable train cookies were made by the ultra-talented Beth of SunshineBakes.
Such a beautiful family, and such an amazing first birthday for James! Thank you so much for sharing, Jennifer!
