What’s new Wednesday {01.16.13}

Chickabug news!

It’s been a little while since my last “What’s new Wednesday” shop update! I have to admit, all through the holidays I got caught up in the spirit of the season and blogged more about Christmas ideas than my usual birthday features. Who could resist?! But it’s a brand new year, we’re back to business as usual, and there’s much to catch up on already. Grab a cup of tea and let’s chat. : ) Here’s what’s been happening around the shop, and here on my blog!

Shop news

• I designed and listed a whole new theme – a strawberry party! I’m obsessed with the rick rack on it and can’t wait for all the summer parties! {link}

Mustache Bash

Mustache water labels are now available. Oh yes. {link}

• Another trend coming to a water bottle near you: leopard print! {link}

• In December, I put up a full-size Christmas tree in the office and we listened to Christmas music every day! Leah even brought in a tiny pink tree that lit up by plugging into a USB port. Later, this amazing technology totally fascinated my mom. ; )

• In related holiday news, the number of Peppermint Hershey Kisses eaten in the Chickabug studio during the Christmas season will be kept absolutely confidential.

• I created a 35-page personalized sock monkey party printable kit! That’s a whole lot of sock monkeys! {link}

• I designed some new race car theme printables, such as printable Hershey labels and a printable banner.

• New football theme items: return address labels, printable treat bag labels, and a printable sign!

Blog features & news

• Along with Pure Joy Events and 6 Bittersweets, I was featured on HGTV’s Design Blog! Our clothespin backdrop and free printable Mother’s Day notes caught the HGTV editors’ eye. {link}

• Before Christmas, The Purple Pug asked me to share my top holiday gift ideas! {link}

• Also before Christmas, some of my free printables and I were featured on the CBS Baltimore website. {link}

• I was interviewed over at ChicTip in their “Blog Love” series. And yes, of course I managed to mention my dog! {link}

momsnmunchkins • Moms & Munchkins asked me some really good questions, including “What advice would you give to a mom that is trying to choose a theme for her child’s first birthday party?” {link}

• Kara’s Party Ideas beat me out for the “Most Awesome Big Birthday Ideas” award from Red Tricycle, and I kept my concession speech short. ; ) Actually, I’m still just tickled to death that I was in such great company in the first place. It really was “just an honor to be nominated,” as they say! {link}

• Lisa of hoopla palooza visited the Chickabug blog as a fabulous guest blogger, and then named me as one of her “five golden friends” on her own blog. That’s an award I’m more than happy to accept! : ) {link}

• My free printable breast cancer awareness set was featured in a party on We Heart Parties. {link}

Whack! Piñateria gave away the cutest pink cupcake piñata ever, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading everyone’s contest entry comments! {link}

• In Flair Form Design Co. gave away a set of awesome totes to promote their custom jewelry line. {link}

• I compiled the ultimate mega-list of golf party food and beverage ideas. {link}

• • •

Freebies ‘n fun stuff

Free printable can of snow label • Just before Christmas, HowDoesShe and I gave away a free printable ”jar of snow” recipe and label! This may just be my favorite free printable ever. {link}

• I designed some cute little lunch notes (or love notes) for Valentine’s Day! {link}

• Already planning for St. Patrick’s Day? I’ve got ya covered. {link}

• New Pinterest boards you might like: Mickey or Minnie Party, Spa Party, Movie Party, Cat or Kitten Party, Advent Calendars, and Etsy Shop Love.

• I updated my theme chart to include links to Pinterest boards, in addition to the blog post and Etsy shop links. Now it’s easier than ever to shop for party goodies and look for inspiration at the same time. {link}

Until next time – thank you for your support, as always!
